BIOGRAPHY
Born in Cervera, Jordi Castellà began his musical training at the Conservatory of this city, completing his higher studies in piano at the Barcelona Higher Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Jordi Vilaprinyó and Miquel Farré. His training also includes prestigious names such as Sofia Puche, Ramon Coll, Anna Barutti, and Stanislav Pochekin, among others.
Jordi Castellà has performed as a soloist in venues such as the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Auditori de Barcelona, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, and the Juan March Foundation in Madrid, among others. He has been recorded or broadcast live by major media such as Radio Nacional d'Espanya and Catalunya Música. He is also a winner of competitions such as the Joan Massià in Barcelona and Joves Intèrprets in Vilafranca del Penedès.
In chamber music, notable projects include "Diabolus in Trio" and the contemporary music group "Tactum". He has collaborated with orchestras such as the OBC, OJC, Lithuanian National Orchestra, and JONC, conducted by Carl Davis, Josep Pons, Joan Albert Amargós, Alfons Reverté, and Salvador Brotons, among others.
As a composer, Jordi Castellà has received various awards and recognition, including first prize in the Masquefa and Montgrins cobla music composition competitions, the Mollet del Vallès sardana composition competition, the Catalonia octet trombone composition competition, and the Catalonia choir composition award. Some of his most successful works include the cantatas "L'Espill Encantat" and "La Corona de Coloms" and the sardanas "Llavor" and "Tardoral".
Currently, Jordi Castellà combines his concert activity with teaching at the Professional Conservatory of Music in Cervera. He is the founder and director of the Catalonia Interior Chamber Orchestra and a repertory pianist for the Chamber Choir of the Enric Granados Auditorium in Lleida and the International Emili Pujol Càtedra in Cervera. He is also a session pianist on the Fiverr platform, through which he has recorded for composers such as Mathieu Alvado, singers like Chase Holfelder and formations like the London Symphony Orchestra.
